Swing Tag Perforation Guide

Is your product commonly bought as a gift? If so, your customer will want to remove the price before giving it to the lucky recipient; perforated hang tags are the perfect solution!

By incorporating a perforated tear off section your customer can remove the price but leave the tag intact; this way the recipient of the gift will not only have all the relevant information they need, but they will also receive your branding and any advertising and marketing which has been incorporated onto the main body of the tag.

The perforation can be added wherever you like and can even be used with our folded tags.

Perforation is the term used to describe a series of holes punched into paper. This enables a section of your printed swing tag to be easily torn off without causing damage to the remaining sheet.

Perforation (commonly referred to as perf lines) allows you to add promotional vouchers and price reductions to the bottom section of clothing tags.

The number of perfs being added and the quantity of the run will determine which perforation method is used:

Perforation Wheel – A specialist wheel that stamps holes into paper

Die-Cutting Process – Perforation lines are stamped into the paper

Things to consider

Artwork

Please show perforation lines as a series of dashes in a spot colour (most commonly magenta). These lines will be removed from the artwork before printing takes place.

Consider the paper weight

Perforation isn’t recommended for paper weights of less than 135gsm.

Consider how many perfs you’ll need

The basic perforation has just one line to create a single tear off sheet but this can be increased to several lines either horizontally or vertically.
